Child Custody and Parenting Plans

Child custody deals with the care, control, and protection of a minor child. There are two types of custody. Physical custody is a plan for where the child lives and how the child shares time with both parents. Legal custody determines a plan for how important decisions like education, religion, and medical care will be made for the child.
